In the coming days, TikTok Shop opens to all Greek businesses. Until now, only invited sellers could sell (early invitation). We have been running TikTok Shops for Greek eshops since the very first days, and in this article we tell you straight: why it's worth opening a TikTok Shop now, what we saw from the inside, and when it can't pay off.
What TikTok Shop is, in a nutshell
TikTok Shop is the store inside TikTok. A user watches a video, taps the orange basket under the product and completes the purchase without leaving the app. They don't go to your site, no other page loads, nobody gets lost along the way.
Your products can appear in three places: in videos (yours and creators'), in LIVEs, and on product cards in the app's «Shop» tab. This is called social commerce: discovery and purchase happen in the same place.
7 reasons to open a TikTok Shop
1. Customers buy the moment they get excited
With classic ads, people watch the video, tap, wait for the site to load, look for the product, type in their details… and somewhere along the way they leave. On TikTok Shop the purchase happens inside the same video, in two taps. Fewer steps mean fewer lost customers.
2. Creators sell for you and only get paid when they sell
This is the biggest advantage, and the one few people have understood. A UGC video from a creator usually costs €100 or more, for every variation. On TikTok Shop, through the affiliate programme, creators get your product, make videos and earn commission only on the sales they bring in. Your content cost is essentially the cost of the sample.
And the videos that sell can be boosted with ads as much as you like. In other words, you build a library of real content that has already proven it drives sales.
3. One registration, 13 European markets
With the Sell Across EU programme, once you open your shop, TikTok gives you access to 13 markets: Greece, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Hungary and the Czech Republic. A Greek eshop that until yesterday only sold in Greece can find itself in front of millions of shoppers across Europe, without opening a new site for each country. And from Europe you can also sell to the United Kingdom, as a separate market with its own setup.
As a Growth Partner, we know what it costs a business to expand abroad the classic way: ads in every country, translations, content, testing. The budget it takes is many times more than a few samples to creators. No debate: cross-border is the future, and TikTok Shop is the cheapest way in.
4. New customers, not the ones you already have
TikTok Shop doesn't «cannibalise» your eshop. The people who buy there are often people who didn't know you. In the Greek eshop we show you below, when we compared TikTok Shop buyers with the eshop's customer base, every single one was a new customer.
5. You pay when you sell
TikTok takes a commission per sale. In the large EU markets (Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Ireland) the standard commission has been 9% since January 2026, while new shops get a reduced commission for their first weeks. Rates vary by country and category, so we always check them in Seller Center before setting prices. The key point: your main cost follows your sales; it isn't a fixed cost that runs no matter what.
6. Content becomes an ad in one click
Your shop's and creators' videos can become GMV Max ads, where TikTok optimises delivery based on the shop's actual sales. You don't need separate production for ads: you use whatever is already selling.
7. Whoever gets in first gets the creators and the top spots
At the start of every channel, competition is low. Few shops, lots of creators looking for products to promote, cheaper ads. When it opens to everyone, the first movers in each category will already have reviews, sales and creators who know them. Everyone else will start from zero.
What we saw from the inside: a Greek eshop in its first 2 months
A Greek cosmetics eshop joined TikTok Shop through early invitation in August 2026. The goal for the first month was simple: learn the platform and see whether the Greek audience was ready. We expected awareness. Sales came instead.

In the second month, the shop's sales grew by +247% compared with the first. And the most interesting part is where they came from.

The 82% of sales came from videos, almost all of them from creators' videos, not the brand's own. This is TikTok Shop in practice: other people talk about your product, and viewers buy it right there in the video.

Within two months, 387 creators posted 1,129 videos and 331 LIVEs about its products. If each one had been paid for as classic UGC, we'd be talking about a production budget a small eshop could never afford.

And the cost? We sent just 29 samples. Most creators found the products on their own through the affiliate programme and earned commission only when they sold. From 29 samples to 13 European markets. To reach these markets with ads, an eshop would need many times that budget.
When can't a TikTok Shop pay off
Only in one case: if your products belong to a category that is prohibited on TikTok Shop. Before anything else, check the TikTok’s official policy.
What you need to get started
- A company or sole trader with a VAT number and its details.
- Identity verification of the legal representative and a business bank account.
- A product catalogue with good photos, descriptions and prices.
- A shipping and returns policy.
- A TikTok account for your brand (or we'll set one up together).
- If your eshop runs on WooCommerce or Shopify, products and orders can be synced through connectors.
